In the heights of Kedarnath, our project partner Friendicoes set up a 3 week camp to care for the hardworking mules that guide pilgrims up to the sacred shrine of Lord Shiva. These tough treks take a toll on the animals, and our team was there to treat every ache, pain, and injury that came their way. The team treated 1,997 cases, including colic, backsores, eye injuries, and lameness.

They also rescued several abandoned and neglected animals, including ponies and wedding horses, giving them a safe home at their Gurgaon shelter.

Read MoreOur new project partners Okavango Animal Welfare Trust were a lifeline for so many donkeys and horses in Botswana. Their first outreach clinics saw many wins for animals. In Ukusi they treated 48 donkeys and the second in Shaikarawe cared for 63 donkeys and one horse. The OAWT team, including a local vet and farrier, did amazing work to examine and treat the animals. In addition to vital treatments such as worming and hoof care, the team addressed wounds and other conditions.

As a result, the sanctuary is being relocated to a different part of the land. In the meantime, the camels are doing well. The recent rains have brought some relief from the heat, and the team is providing them with shade, water, food, and necessary treatments as always. Those undergoing treatment are being cared for.
