Recent Cases and Rescues
At the sanctuary and through the dedicated efforts of Friendicoes field team, countless animals have received care and treatment Here’s a glimpse of the lives helped this past month:
Colic Treatment
A horse showing signs of severe colic, including restlessness and impaction, was treated with pain relief, fluid therapy, and laxatives via stomach tubing. It is now on the road to recovery thanks to the quick intervention.
Wound Care Cases
Elbow and Foreleg Injuries: A horse with lacerations caused by sharp objects was treated with wound cleaning, sutures, antibiotics, painkillers, and a tetanus vaccine.
Road Accident Injury: A horse injured while trapped in a chamber received wound cleaning, dressing, and medical care.
Head Collar Injury: A small, ill-fitting head collar caused wounds, which were cleaned, dressed, and treated with medication.
Hip Wound
An animal sustained a severe hip wound from an accident with iron rods. The wound was cleaned, treated with antiseptics, and packed with gauze. Painkillers and antibiotics were administered, with rest advised for recovery.
Dental Care
A horse struggling to eat due to painful milk teeth had its dental caps removed and was treated with pain relief and a tetanus vaccine.
Rescues at the Sanctuary
Camel Rescued in Gurgaon: An abandoned camel with a septic, maggot-infested muzzle wound was rescued and transported to the sanctuary. It is now eating well and recovering.
Two Mules from Greater Noida: Malnourished and neglected, these mules were rescued and are now receiving care and comfort.
Four Donkeys Rescued from Greater Noida: Rescued from construction zones, these donkeys are now safe and well-cared for at the sanctuary.
Mares rescued from Gurgaon, Ayanagar Delhi and Sakatpur: one suffering from a ruptured tumour and another abandoned due to an injury. All are now under treatment and care.
