Trees and Troughs for Animals 2023
Sunday 2 July saw a small but enthusiastic group of people brave the chilly winter morning to help the local wetland environment at the same time as supporting AAA and our working animals.
Volunteers, old and new, turned up at the SERCUL (South East Regional Centre for Urban Landcare) Beckenham site and planted 2937 native shrubs and wetland sedges.
Cat, from SERCUL, had augered the holes already and within 2 hours almost all plants were in!!
A long hot cuppa and some delicious baked goods (from the awesome AAA members) , and then a few devoted souls went back to work and finished the planting.
It was a great morning, a real feel-good experience in the beautiful local eco-system with ducks and other bird-life keeping us company.
A big thank you to all who attended, and also to Cat and the staff at SERCUL - a small part of the planet is now ready to support more wildlife. We are delighted to announce that we raised $17,854.91 for the Trees and Troughs for Animals Campaign!!! ( well exceeding our target of $10,000). These funds will go towards providing some relief to the working animals in many countries that we support from here in Australia.
This project is supported by funding from the Western Australian Government’s State NRM Program, and will be run again next year so stay tuned for details!
