TAHUCHA February 2023 Report

During February 2023, the Tanzania Humane Charity (TAHUCHA) team attended a case of a donkey that was struck by a car along the Rwanda–Tanzania highway while pulling a cart.

The TAHUCHA teams examined the donkey and noted a deep wound on the left part of the neck and scapular region.

The wound was managed by cleaning, antiseptics applied and topical powder antibiotics administered to prevent secondary bacterial infection, and finally pain killers were administered to make the animal comfortable.

The donkey was under TAHUCHA monitoring for almost 21 days until a full recovery was made. The team also prescribed for the donkey to rest, with plenty of fresh food and water.
