Meet Dopey, rescue donkey at Friendicoes

Another new rescue animal at Friendicoes is Dopey.

Dopey is a 12 year old donkey and he was rescued thanks to the efforts of an animal lover who saw him getting beaten by his owner even when he already had a lacerated wound on his flank. She confronted him with the help of other locals and rescued Dopey. Friendicoes was called in to take him away.  

The poor boy lived a life of immense suffering and his wound was testimony to it. It was caused by chaffing of saddle ropes due to overloading and getting hit by a stick was only adding to his pain. He is now in our care and will live his remaining life at our sanctuary in freedom and peace! 

Dopey's wound has already healed completely and the skin has grown back over the laceration and he has already fattened up a bit and no longer looks malnourished.
