Friendicoes January 2023 Report

AAA partner group in India, Friendicoes, have sent us an update on their work during January.

The month brought with it an increased number of cases of colic, a lacerated wound near the eye of a very distressed horse, an infected abscess on the brisket of a horse, a young foal with a dog bite wound, and perhaps most shocking, was the case of a horse with chemical burns caused by an owner attempting to administer a hack remedy for lameness which obviously didn’t work and caused extensive damage to the horse’s skin, not to mention pain and distress. This particular horse will take some time to recover so the owner has been firmly instructed to rest the horse and the team will be checking in on the horse’s progress regularly.

A pony was rescued with a fractured foreleg in Okhla, and another aged pony with arthritis was rescued from Turkman Gate in Delhi. Both animals were brought to the shelter, treated and are now safe and comfortable.

The team also distributed blankets to working animals at the nearby brick kilns.
