Meru Animal Welfare Organisation (MAWO) Second January 2023 update

Further to the earlier January report, the Meru Animal Welfare Organisation (MAWO) have sent an update on the progress they have made in the Ngarenanyukis Donkey clinic:

”When I arrived this morning at the market, nearly 10 donkeys were welcoming me at the corner where we always put our tent. The owners brought them, as they know here we are going to serve water and to check them.

The number of treated donkeys increased up to 27. I even saw those passing with donut and donkey saddle pack, who have been served last time.

According to the water supply, some donkeys are not getting much familiar with the troughs, others who would like to drink they are tight somewhere. So I served most of them by bringing the water bucket to them.

Some owners they still fear we are going to poison the donkey by a mixture of water and medicine or even Corona vaccine.

A big effort we sign in the compliance and cooperation of the Massai women is that they finally allow their donkeys to be treated since the last clinic.”
