Animal Nepal January 2023 Update
January has been an exciting month for us at the Animal Nepal sanctuary. We are doing lots of work to beautify our sanctuary and we cannot wait to show our finished results! We have added some Buddhist prayer flags as a good luck charm for our sanctuary animals and also because it makes the sanctuary look very colorful. Recently, work has been also started by a group of very talented local artists who are painting a mural on our sanctuary wall. We are so grateful to these group of young artists who have donated their time and skills to make our sanctuary look nicer.
All of our animals have been well this month. Due to so many people coming and going – workers and guests, our animals are really enjoying all the extra attention as well as treats. This month, we were also visited by the Donkey Sanctuary UK Vets and another equine veterinarian from Denmark. We shared our concerns with all the vets about our recent loss and what measures can be taken to make our sanctuary safer for our animals. According to these vets, the set up at our sanctuary is good, the only other biosecurity measure we can take is to create a separate area for the various animals, so that there is no mixing between the species, especially with the birds. Based on this advice, we are now creating separate areas for all our animals and we anticipate the work to be completed before the monsoon season starts.
We would like to express our sincerest gratitude to Animal Aid Abroad for their continued financial support in the running and maintenance of the sanctuary for our rescued equines in Dukuchhap.
