Meet Passion, one of our new rescued working equines.
Introducing a new animal AAA are sponsoring through our Working Animal Rescue Fund. We are taking on four more rescued working equines with Friendicoes to join our growing list of rescued working animals that we support with our global partner families. One of these four is called Passion.
Passion the pony was rescued last year by a local animal rescue group who found him being beaten and kept isolated by his owner. He is blind in one eye and was malnourished, but his owner would still force him to work, poking and prodding his genitals or hitting him till the poor boy had no choice but to drag his legs and do his owner's bidding. Luckily the local police supported this rescue and Passion was confiscated from his owner.
We are glad to report that Passion now lives at the Friendicoes Lifetime Care Sanctuary where he is making new friends. He is coralled with other blind donkeys and ponies and he enjoys their company and his peaceful new life. He is not a very old boy, estimated to be around 10/12 years but a poor diet and lifestyle caused him to lose part of his vision.
Like most horses, he is a sweet natured, gentle animal, and hardly gives anyone any trouble. He has put on some weight and is doing well health-wise.
