KOARP in Kurdistan - May Report

AAA partner group in Kurdistan, KOARP’s Dr Sulaiman has sent us a remarkable story from his work in a village of the Duhok province.

During the course of his field visits treating various farm animals and some cases of dog bites in the area, Dr Sulaiman noticed a yellow dog coming towards him, slowly step by step, and looking quite shy.

Dr Sulaiman thought nothing of it, and even tried to avoid the dog, wary of the potential for a dog bite.

In speaking with the local animal owners, Dr Sulaiman realised that this yellow dog was one that he treated for a cancerous tumour on his leg around a year ago, and now the dog is completely fit and healthy. The dog was actually trying to approach Dr Sulaiman to say hello as he recognised him, and perhaps to thank him for saving his life last year.

We like to think that the animals treated by Dr Sulaiman and his team remember and are grateful for the care they receive, thanks to the support of our donors.

The following photos are of the dog in question, plus the many animals treated during May.
