Tanzania Humane Charity (TAHUCHA) case study - March 2022

In March 2022, the Tanzania Humane Charity (TAHUCHA) team attended a donkey who was debilitated by a severe wound on the back. The owner of the donkey informed the team that the wound was caused by severe beating by the donkey rider.

The TAHUCHA team conducted a thorough clinical examination on the donkey and initiated treatment and management by administering painkillers, antibiotics to prevent secondary bacterial infection, and cleaning of the wound.

The TAHUCHA team also provided education to the donkey riders on the humane handling and care of donkeys. The donkey was monitored by providing daily management since that day until full recovery.

The team and donkey owners would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Animal Aid Abroad for their heart felt help to improve the lives of working donkeys in the district of Bukombe .
