Kurdistan Organisation for Animal Rights Protection - February report

During February, Dr Sulaiman and the team at Kurdistan Organisation for Animal Rights Protection (KOARP) treated over 1,000 animals including donkeys, mules, horses, dogs, camels, sheep, goats and other cattle.

One of the animals treated was a dog called Sherow. This dog and his owner had escaped from Mosul to Duhok in 2014 during the ISIS crisis.

Sherow works for his owner Abdulwahab as a shepherd dog and currently the flock is kept out in the field for as long as possible to make best use of the extended hours of sunshine, and fresh new grass. As a result of these extended hours, Sherow was attacked by and fought with a hyena.

The resulting wounds were too large to be treated by the owner, so Dr Sulaiman was called in to treat Sherow with antibiotics and multivitamins for 15 days until he was recovered.
