Friendicoes Equine Program - May Activity report

During May, the team at Friendicoes treated many ailments for a number for horses and donkeys.

Among the issues treated were: acute colic, flesh wounds, leg wounds, infections, and back sores.

Owners were also educated on the correct care and equipment for their working animals to prevent these types of injuries and illnesses occurring.

One particularly sad case was an abandoned donkey mother rescued from road side. She had just given birth and her newborn foal had died quickly after, with the hopeless mother running here and there refusing to leave her dead foal. The team gently buried the foal and it was then that the donkey allowed herself to be led into the animal ambulance. She was brought to Gurgaon shelter where it’s hoped she regains not just physical health but some comfort from the company of orphaned foals and other donkeys.

A lame pony was also rescued and feed was also distributed to animals stranded within the city during the Covid lockdown.
