Meet Sunny: the Newest Rescued Donkey to Join Our Sponsorship Family
Thanks to your generous support, our partner group Nowzad achieved the following during January:
154 animals were given veterinary treatment,
10 first aid kits were distributed to horse owners,
68 equines had their hooves trimmed,
20 horses were provided with warm blankets.
A range of health issues were seen, including colic, other gastrointestinal issues, anaemia, respiratory illnesses and lameness.
Nowzad undertook two major rescues during January. One rescue involved a very sick dairy cow who needed emergency surgery after losing an eye. She was hospitalised post-surgery for ongoing care.
The team also rescued an abandoned donkey who was left in such a weak state, local dogs had attacked her. The attack resulted in deep flesh wounds around her jaw and on her left rump. Nowzad’s vets received a call from concerned locals and the poor donkey was transported to their hospital for treatment and recovery.
The following videos show her progress over two weeks. Once the donkey is 100% better, she will be taken to Nowzad’s sanctuary. She has been named Sunny.
Animal Aid Abroad will be welcoming Sunny to our sponsorship family. To help Sunny and other rescued working animals like her, head to our shop page and choose to give to our Working Animal Rescue Fund: https://www.animalaidabroad.org/store/workinganimalrescuefund
With your help, we can ensure more animals are rescued from suffering and receive the loving care and treatment they so desperately need.
