Treatment Provided for 101 Working Horses and Oxen
Due to your compassionate support, Action for Protection of Wild Animals (APOWA) in India were able to assist many working animals in January.
Their mobile veterinary team reached 101 horses and oxen. The vets provided treatment for various injuries and illnesses, and administered preventative vaccines and deworming medicine. All the animals also underwent general health checks.
Last month, 143 owners were reached through APOWA’s training program. This program covers:
Animal health and welfare,
Correct feeding and nutrition,
Disease prevention and vaccinations,
Housing and humane handling of animals.
APOWA also runs a help desk service, where owners can receive immediate advice about their animals’ health from qualified vets. Twenty-nine animal owners have received information and assistance through the help desk recently.
Additionally, through APOWA’s programs:
336 animals received preventative vaccinations,
Follow-up visits were completed for 2 horses and 5 bullocks previously treated to check on their progress and further educate the owners,
Follow-up visits for 27 vaccinated animals were undertaken to ensure they had no adverse reactions,
Volunteers provided first aid for 31 working animals to offer immediate pain relief and advise owners on what medicines to use.
Thank you once again to all our wonderful supporters. Your kind donations are changing the lives of so many working animals in India.
