Elderly Donkey Given Care in Kurdistan

Dr Sulaiman at our partner group, Kurdistan Organization for Animal Rights Protection (KOARP), recently assisted an elderly male donkey called Mer. He is 15 years old and was found to be emaciated and suffering from old age.

The owner does not wish to euthanise Mer as he stated this donkey has helped him with herding for many years and he wants to look after Mer for the remainder of his life. Dr Sulaiman examined Mer and determined that he will require special care, including multivitamins and minerals. Mer was also given a nasal cover to protect his nose. Dr Sulaiman will regularly monitor Mer and provide continuing care in his old age.

In addition to this case, Dr Sulaiman and his team treated 1723 other animals during June, including donkeys, mules, horses, dogs, sheep, goats, cows and birds. They also rescued 11 animals.

Thanks to our AAA donors, who allow us to sponsor Dr Sulaiman's vital work for animals in Kurdistan.
