Nowzad's rescue of Purple and animal coats for winter

In 2024, one of the groups that our generous AAA donors will be supporting is Nowzad, who help animals in Afghanistan and Ukraine.

During January this year, they treated 53 donkeys and 117 horses, and during this time noted that in the very hard cold winter months, the animals who live at the sanctuary were suffering with no blankets or coats. As such AAA has provided funding for 32 animal coats to be made specifically for sanctuary equines as well as those in greatest need at the brick kilns to help prevent illnesses brought on by lack of protection from the cold.

The team also recently rescued a donkey called Purple. Purple had been treated in the Nowzad hospital for wounds and then returned to the owner. However, the vets were called out to see Purple again, as he had collapsed and couldn’t get back up. The vets negotiated with the owner and thankfully he agreed to relinquish Purple into Nowzad’s care permanently, so Purple was moved to the sanctuary where he will live in a safe and healthy environment.
