Help in Suffering Camel Rescue Centre April 2023 Update

With your donations, Help in Suffering (HIS) continues to help and treat working camels in need. Here is an update on their recent activity at the Camel Rescue Centre (CRC) based in Bassi.

On one day during April, when our team went to village Langariawas, a camel owner came with his camel who was suffering with a large and extensive saddle wound. The camel had been unable to work for three weeks. Saddle wounds are always very painful. If not treated properly and camel keeps working, it becomes a so painful and takes very long time to heal.

The wound was full of pus and dirt. So we cleaned the wound thoroughly, antibiotics and painkillers were administered. For further use, oral medicines and antiseptic ointment were given. The owner was advised to keep the wound clean, away from flies and to provide plenty of rest to the camel.

One evening, we received a call from village Kanota. The owner complained that his camel was suffering from colic and not passing faeces for three days. Dr. Jitendar decided to go there at once as the camel had severe colic. After reaching the destination we found that the camel was suffering and in severe pain. After proper treatment, fluid therapy, etc. the camel showed signs of relief in pain. The owner was so thankful as our team was able to attend at night and provide immediate help.
