Friendicoes July Update

AAA partner group, Friendicoes, have sent through their report for July. During this month, Colic still tops the list of problems encountered in the field. Heat stroke and dehydration is a close second in the number of cases attended. In many cases, this is due to the owner continuing to work the animal in the heat, even when signs of distress are apparent. These animals, when not working, will be left tethered without water and without much concern for their welfare or safety. The team give a sharp rebuke to the owners in these cases, and aim to stop this from being such a big issue.

The team also treated cases of lacerated wounds on legs, a deep penetrating abdomen wound, and a severe dog bite on a 2 week old foal. The foal’ wounds were treated successfully and he was left with his mother to recover.
