Animal Nepal Dukuchhap Donkey Sanctuary December 2021 Report

December 2021 was a calm and peaceful month at the Animal Nepal Dukuchhap donkey sanctuary, with the animals really relishing basking in the winter sun as it gets quite chilly at nights. They have been getting extra layers of hay in their stables and the older ones wear their winter coats at night to keep them warm. Health wise, all the equines are doing well. The vet technician, Tara is in Dukuchhap six days a week and the vet Dr. Sajana visits few times a week, so they are all in very good hands.

During December, there were talks to bring in two rescues – a blind horse and one with a fracture. Tthe one with the fracture sadly needed to be euthanized. The team were very much looking forward to welcoming the blind horse to the sanctuary and he was in isolation and all preparations had been made, including choosing a name for him, which was going to be Sullu Bhai (after his owner). But sadly, he didn’t make it and they were very much disheartened that he wasn’t able to recover and heal at the sanctuary.

Animal Nepal would like to express their sincerest gratitude to Animal Aid Abroad for their continued financial support in the running and maintenance of the sanctuary for the rescued equines in Dukuchhap.
