Another eye injury for the Camel Rescue Centre in Bassi

Recently at about 11 pm at night, The CRC team received a call from Village Raniawas. A community member reported that his camel’s eye was injured and bleeding. He asked if they could manage to come at that time. The team have known that owner for a long time and recognise that he is a good owner. He told the team that the camel tried to bite him so he had to hit the animal to save himself. Unfortunately it injured the camel’s eye.

At the time, there was no driver available so CRC Vet Dr. Jitendar called his ambulance driver Lalchand from home and also asked vet assistant Devaram to come for this emergency case.

On reaching the scene they found that there was some bleeding in the eye and the camel was in severe pain and shaking his head. The wound was cleaned aseptically and some antibiotics and painkillers were administered.

After 5 days a follow up appointment was carried out and fortunately, the eye was almost healed.

The owner was very happy for the help provided yo him at his place at midnight and was so sorry for his unkind act that injured the camel.

The camel’s eye was not injured deeply so it was good news for the owner and for the CRC team.

During April, the team treated 488 camels during outreach clinics, and treated a number of other animals at the clinic including dogs, cats, cattle, goats, a horse and a rabbit.
