Poor saddling of camels causing wounds in Bassi

AAA supports the Camel Rescue Centre (CRC) in Bassi, and they sent us an example of an all too common issue with camels in the area.

“In working camels, the wrong selection of saddle, unevenness of saddle and less padded saddle are the cause behind painful saddle wounds. One day a camel owner, Mukim came to CRC from village Kabita for the treatment of a saddle wound. Dr. Jitendar examined and found that it was an old wound and the camel had been suffering from it for many days. On asking the reason why he did not come earlier, he gave the weak excuse that he did not have the time.

The wound was antiseptically dressed, antibiotics, painkillers were administered and he was advised to use appropriate saddle and give proper rest to the animal.”

Thank you to the CRC for their continued work in this area - through immediate treatment and education, we hope this issue becomes a thing of the past.
