Kurdistan Organisation for Animal Rights Protection (KOARP) - November report
The Kurdistan Organisation for Animal Rights Protection (KOARP) have had a typically busy month of November. Dr Sulaiman and his team treated a total of 3,120 animals and educated 64 community members across 16 villages.
They also provided 33 humane nasal protectors for donkeys and horses, and treated a number of shepherd dogs.
One dog treated was a male dog who had gotten into a fight with another dog and sustained some large injuries. After that, the owner abandoned him so the team brought t he dog to the office and gave treatment for 20 days. The Duhok zoo helped with fostering him during this time and after he fully recovered, a local farmer in Hawresky village, with more than 400 head of sheep and goats adopted the dog.
Another dog is from Teldave village who is a very strong shepherd dog that fights with his neighbour shepherd dog in the pasture. The team are monitoring the case for next month and will update on this case again.
