Animal Nepal, Dukuchhap Donkey Sanctuary October Update

October marks the onset of autumn in Nepal, with the weather starting to get milder. With mornings and evenings getting chillier, the Animal Nepal Dukuchhap Donkey Sanctuary residents really appreciate the afternoon sun and love to nap under the sun. Sadly, one of our older donkeys Puffin, the mother of Chandani has been quite unwell due to a blood parasite condition and she is under treatment, directly under the care of our Senior Equine Vet Dr. Sajana Thapa. Puffin came to us while she was pregnant with Chandani and she is almost 20 years old. We noticed that she seemed to be getting weaker and appeared lethargic and had not been eating as well as she used to. We are hopeful that Puffin will pull through as she is under very good care, with Dr. Sajana visiting her every day at the sanctuary. The rest of our sanctuary animals are doing very well.

We would like to express our sincerest gratitude to Animal Aid Abroad for their continued financial support in the running and maintenance of the sanctuary for our rescued equines in Dukuchhap.
