Nose peg wounds still prevalent despite distribution of plastic nose pegs

Nose peg wounds are very common in working camels. Help in Suffering- Jaipur, Rajasthan-India see lots of camels everyday with these wounds. Although they give customised smooth plastic nose pegs to the owners, the excessive pulling to control the animal is the cause of the wounds.
One day recently, an owner came to the HIS shelter. His camel had a big wound and torn nose. The team cleaned the wound, and administered antibiotics and pain killers. The owner was advised to keep the wound clean and not to pull the ropes forcefully.
During July, HIS treated 252 camels, and 117 other animals including dogs, goats, cattle and horses.
