Helping working donkeys in Tanzania
The Meru Animal Welfare Organisation (MAWO) in Tanzania is a strong advocate for animal rights, especially those that are neglected, such as donkeys. Their mobile outreach clinic is dedicated to treating sick and injured donkeys in the area. During their latest clinic in Majengo village, 93 donkeys were treated for various injuries, some of which were septic, and all were de-wormed. The cause of injuries were most likely poor harnessing practices, whipping and trauma.
As such, MAWO propose to run a training program to educate owners on proper harnessing and humane handling of donkeys.
The people of Majengo appreciated the aid and asked for MAWO to visit them regularly. MAWO asked the people to form a group so that they may come back and conduct the harness training.
