Meet the New Rescued Donkeys from Gaza and Hebron

Thanks to the incredible support of our compassionate AAA community, Starting Over in Israel continues to bring kindness and healing to donkeys who have endured so much. Every rescue, every moment of care and every happy ending is only possible because of you.

The Hope compound is currently home to 53 donkeys, each with their own special story. Recently, some new residents joined the herd and are receiving lots of love, care and support from the staff.

A blind and pregnant 10-year-old jenny was found stranded in the desert. How she crossed the road and ended up there remains a mystery, but thanks to a call from the police, she is now safe.

She seems to have endured a tough life pulling carts and was very frightened when she arrived. The team is now looking for a loving and safe forever home for her.

Two jennies came from the city of Hebron with damaged tendons in their front legs. They’ll need silicone shoes to help them get back on their feet comfortably.

Another donkey, also from Hebron, is about 20 years old and has a deformed leg due to an old fracture.

Beyond the compound, there’s more good news! Two large jennies - likely a mother and daughter, were rescued from Gaza with the help of soldiers using Starting Over’s trailer.

The gentle souls bear signs of years of hard labour, but they’re settling in well.

Every life saved is made possible by AAA’s generous supporters. Thank you for helping Starting Over continue their incredible work for donkeys in need!
