At HIS Camel Rescue Centre, the mission to support and heal working animals is ever-growing, and the team is grateful for the opportunity to share some touching stories from their recent activities.

A Helping Hand for a Camel in Distress

Recently, the team visited Mithulal at Kanota, where they encountered a camel suffering from a severe maggot infestation in its right ear. For days, the poor creature had been in great discomfort, exhibiting symptoms like head shaking, irritability, and a loss of appetite.

The dedicated team arrived swiftly, providing the much-needed care. They carefully cleaned the wound and removed the maggots, administering appropriate medication to alleviate the camel’s suffering. The team also advised Mithulal to keep the area clean and to reach out to them sooner in the future, ensuring that his camel stays healthy and comfortable.

A Surgical Intervention for a Brave Camel

In another heartfelt incident, the team received a call from Sunder Bawaria in the village of Sumel. Sunder works at a local brick kiln and lives in temporary housing with tin roofs, which can pose a serious risk during storms. Unfortunately, a recent storm caused a tin shade to fly off, resulting in a serious injury to one of his camels.

The skilled veterinarian, Dr. Jitendar, promptly responded to the call. With great care and expertise, he performed surgical repairs on the injured camel under anaesthesia. Sunder was immensely grateful for the assistance provided at no cost, and his gratitude reflects the vital support received from generous donors like Animal Aid Abroad.

The Monthly Camp

Throughout August, the team’s efforts extended beyond camels to include a variety of working animals. They treated many horses, goats, dogs, and cows suffering from different ailments.

During the monthly camp, they were able to provide vaccinations and deworming treatments to 147 animals, ensuring they received the care they needed to thrive in their work.

The stories shared reflect the challenges and triumphs faced by working animals and their owners. Each case highlights the importance of timely intervention and care, made possible through the kindness of supporters.

The team at HIS thank AAA supporters for being a part of their mission to provide compassion and healing to the wonderful creatures.

Together, they can continue to make a positive impact on the lives of animals.
