Help in Suffering Sponsored Animals Update

Help in Suffering care for three camels who are sponsored by AAA at their Camel Rescue Centre (CRC) in Bassi, India:

BASANTI

Basanti is a lovely 17 year old female camel. Her calm nature means she is very easy to handle. Basanti enjoys the company of another camel called Kamlesh. She is a cheerful, happy and healthy camel.

BLACKY

Blacky is 16 years old and was rescued from Shahjahanpur in December, 2015, just before he was due to be slaughtered. At the time of rescue, he had some black spots of dye on his neck, so he was named Blacky. He loves to eat groundnut straw and is a very calm and gentle-natured camel.

RANI (A queen)

Rani is a female camel who was rescued from a circus in Kolkata in Febuary, 2019, by another organisation. At the time, she was around 15-16 years old and she had a small tumour on her right hind limb and was suffering from mange.

When Rani arrived at the CRC, she ate very little for a few days but now she loves eating groundnut straw, guar and gram. She enjoys neem tree leaves too. Rani is good-natured and has a unique skill, which is dancing. Because she had to dance in the circus, she still sometimes displays her dancing abilities.

AAA also sponsor two rescued donkeys who live at the Camel Rescue Centre.

FREDA

Freda is a female donkey who is about 9-10 years old. She was rescued by Help in Suffering in Jaipur and arrived at the CRC around three years ago. Freda likes groundnut fodder and rijka grass. Sometimes, she becomes a bit aggressive and tries to kick, but overall she has a sweet nature.

JENNY

Jenny is Freda’s daughter and she was born at the CRC. Now, she is 2 years old and loves playing and running. She enjoys the company of humans and all the CRC staff love her.
