Empowering Local Farriers on Gili Trawangan with Training and Tools

Proper hoof care is so important for the health and well-being of horses, ensuring they can move comfortably and avoid painful injuries or infections. Thanks to the generosity of AAA supporters, essential items like shoes, nails and tools have been supplied to empower farriers and improve the lives of working horses on Gili Trawangan Island in Indonesia.

A productive and inspiring clinic was held on the Gili Islands with Dr. Charlie El-Hage and Chris Beggs. Dr. Charlie led a session for local veterinary students, while Chris, an experienced Australian farrier, provided valuable training to local farriers.

Chris, who has been dedicated to supporting the horses of the Gili Islands for many years, also lent a hand with cat clinics during his visit.

The training program continues to strengthen the skills of local farriers, who also assist at the working horse clinic.

One such farrier, Ruki, has been equipped with a complete set of tools, enabling him to better serve the island's horses and contribute to their ongoing care.
