Friendicoes Equine Program Aug Update - The Team's Commitment to Equine Welfare

The Friendicoes team is proud to work alongside their dedicated project partner, providing critical medical care and support for horses, ponies and mules across various regions.

Their amazing efforts have transformed the lives of working animals, who often face various challenges due to the conditions they endure.

Here are some recent cases of care provided by their team:

Colic and Digestive Issues

One of the common conditions affecting equines is colic. Symptoms include frequent lying down and getting up, as well as issues with digestion. The team acts quickly, providing pain relief and fluid therapy, often using stomach tubing to administer laxatives and prevent further complications.

Injuries from Accidents

Working animals frequently encounter risks in their environment. For instance, horses may sustain wounds from sharp objects or rough handling. The Friendicoes’s team diligently treats these injuries, ensuring that each animal receives thorough care, including cleaning and dressing wounds, as well as necessary vaccinations to support their recovery.

Rescue Stories
Mule and pony rescue efforts are a big part of the work, as seen in the recent cases of an abandoned mule found running on a busy road and a pony rescued near the Delhi Racecourse. Both were brought to the Gurgaon shelter, where they received medical attention and a safe place to recover.
