Your Support is Helping Camels: Treating Severe Eye Injuries and Colic

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters and kind donations, the Camel Rescue Centre (CRC) team continues to provide life-saving care to animals in need. In November, a total of 19 outreach clinics were held, providing incredible care to 420 camels.

Recently, the team tackled several challenging cases, offering assistance to camels in remote areas.

Here are two inspiring stories that highlight the impact of your support, along with a glimpse into the wider work of the CRC.

Case 1: A Camel’s Eye Injury in Renwal

In the village of Renwal, Suresh reached out to the CRC team after his camel suffered a severe eye injury caused by a tree branch. With no local veterinary help available, Suresh desperately needed assistance.

Dr. Himanshu and his team responded swiftly, cleaning the dirty wound and treating it with antibiotics, painkillers, and other essential medications. Over three weeks of careful care, the wound healed completely. While the camel is still regaining strength, the team is optimistic about his full recovery.

Case 2: Treating Severe Colic in Heerawala

In the village of Heerawala, Prakash faced a distressing situation when his camel developed impaction and severe colic. After trying herbal remedies without success, he turned to the CRC team for help.

The team arrived promptly, assessed the camel’s condition, and administered fluids and medication.

Within half an hour, the camel showed signs of relief. The team provided additional oral medicines for continued care and Prakash was deeply grateful for their timely intervention.

Daily Clinics and Camps

The CRC’s work goes beyond emergency cases. Through their daily clinics and monthly camps, the team provides essential care to a wide range of animals. In October alone, they treated 645 animals, including working horses, goats, cows, sheep and dogs.

These animals received care for various ailments, as well as routine services like deworming and vaccinations. For instance, during the monthly camp, the team successfully dewormed many goats and sheep, improving their health and well-being.

The team at HIS thank AAA supporters for being a part of their mission to provide compassion and healing to the wonderful creatures. Together, they can continue to make a positive impact on the lives of animals.
