Animal Nepal January 2024 Report

Animal Nepal would like to express their sincerest gratitude to Animal Aid Abroad donors for their continued financial support in the running and maintenance of the sanctuary for rescued equines in Dukuchhap.

2024 started with even more visitors coming to our sanctuary. We are particularly encouraged to see parents bringing their children to the sanctuary to spend time with our animals. While we do keep the larger animals away from children, the donkeys are always a firm favorite as they are so friendly and gentle with the kids. Of the donkeys, Samir is the friendliest and she loves being around people. Our mini horse Apache is also very friendly but her best friend Haluman the Hinny is fast gaining a reputation for being a troublemaker. Haluman is very mischievous and usually trying to chase away or pick fights with other animals, she only likes Apache.

Jackie, one of our rescued mules with a bad fracture on his leg likes to spend most of his time lying down now and soaking in the winter sun. Over the years, he has become very fond of people and loves a gentle stroke on his head. Kaali the cow continues to suffer from occasional seizures and she is under treatment and close observation of our Vets. Besides the seizure, Kaali is healthy and gaining weight.
