LAWCS May 2023 Report

One of the partner groups which AAA can support with the help of our amazing donors is the Liberian Animal Welfare and Conservation Society (LAWCS).

LAWCS work hard to turn things around for the working animals in their area, providing veterinary outreach clinics, community education programs, and distributing humane harnesses and padding. During May they visited 15 villages, and treated 729 animals, benefitting an estimated 1,200 people who rely on animals for their livelihoods.

One child who was part of the education program, Amadou, was so afraid of donkeys that he threw stones at them whenever he saw them. Through participating in LAWCS’s humane education session, his thoughts, beliefs and attitudes towards these animals, and in particular, his family donkey Ludo, has completely changed. He is no longer scared and now has the respect and care that all donkeys deserve.
