Animal Nepal Dukuchhap Donkey Sanctuary - August Report

Thank you to Animal Nepal for their August report on the Dukuchhap donkey sanctuary:

“This month was a fairly quiet one at our sanctuary. Our staff took advantage of the quiet period by giving some extra pampering to our animals. Our vet technician Tara and our caretakers cleaned the hooves of our animals and groomed their fur. With it being the rainy season, our animals tend to get quite dirty during this time, so any extra pampering is always a good idea.

Our mule Tara’s injured leg continues to give him trouble, and there was some swelling on the old fracture this month. He is being taken care of by our Equine vet and is under medication and rest. We noticed that the rain tends to trigger swelling and infection on his injured leg, so we are taking extra care to keep him dry.

The construction work for our sanctuary wall is ongoing but hampered regularly due to the rainfall, once complete, we will be gradually opening the sanctuary to the public for visits.

We would like to express our sincerest gratitude to Animal Aid Abroad for their continued financial support in the running and maintenance of the sanctuary for our rescued equines in Dukuchhap.”
