LAWCS in Liberia's week long intensive training session

The LAWCS team in Guinea who are on the working animal project recently had a week long intensive training course conducted by a trained practising vet who is also a lecturer at the veterinary school in the region. He conducted both theoretical and practical sessions with the staff. The topics covered are as follows:

1. Restraining donkeys, cattle and horses

2. Body condition scoring of donkeys, cattle and horses

3. Clinical examination of donkeys, cattle and horses

4. Diseases and medical conditions

5. Treatment of wounds

6. Gut parasites

7. Hoof trimming

8. Medications: use, storage and dose calculation

9. Positions and administration of injections

10. Harnessing

11. Good welfare and health

The training helped to enhance the skills of the team and prepared them to effectively and efficiently respond to the health and welfare needs of the working animals they treat.
