Camel Rescue Centre in Bassi, February update

The Camel Rescue Centre (CRC) in Bassi, has had a busy February, during which they treated a total of 450 camels, along with 269 other animals. 101 camels were dewormed, 40 plastic nose pegs were replaced, and 28 camel carts were fitted with reflectors to help prevent road accidents.

One of the cases they dealt with was that of a small camel calf that was unable to stand and very weak. The Help in Suffering (HIS) ambulance from Jaipur was sent to rescue the camel. They found the camel very emaciated, dull, unable to stand, with a low temperature and sever dermatitis. His overall condition was very poor. The camel was brought to the Camel Rescue Centre in Bassi where Dr Jitendar and his team tried hard to save the camel’s life. After fluid therapy, topical applications of medication and antibiotics etc, the camel’s condition did not improve. After 6 days, the camel could not survive. While success with every rescue cannot be guaranteed, we are glad that this little camel had the team to care for and make him as comfortable as possible.

Thank you CRC for your efforts in this and all of your cases.
