5000 donkeys left stranded after sudden closure of Chinese donkey skin abattoir in Tanzania - We need your HELP!

Although the news of an abattoir’s closure is music to our ears, we have a crisis on our hands: this Chinese-owned abattoir in Shinyanga, which slaughter donkeys for their skins, now holds approximately 5000 donkeys, with about 2000 of them in DESPERATE NEED of FOOD, WATER and MEDICAL TREATMENT.

We are receiving NO government or other assistance within Tanzania, these donkeys have been abandoned and left to die.

Our immediate goal is to raise $20,000 to get urgent food, water and medical treatment to the most vulnerable: the weak, pregnant and new-born foals.

With our Tanzania partner, TAHUCHA, we will rescue the most vulnerable and bring them to our Sanctuary in Bukombe for intensive care and treatment. While the rest will be fed, watered and treated in their current location until they can be relocated back to the communities from where, in many cases, they were illegally removed.

We are also working hard on returning as many donkeys as possible safely back to their communities and making sure this is done humanely and soon as possible.
