Eased restrictions in Guinea allow for vet clinic outreach

The aim of AAA's partner group in Liberia, Guinea is to end the unnecessary suffering, pain and starving of working animals in Guinea through direct veterinary care and treatment for 4000 working animals and education programme for 25,000 animal owners and children. They have sent us an update on their August activity:
"As a result of the recent relaxation of Covid-19 restrictions, we have been very busy with our animal welfare and health programme in many farms and communities. During the lock down, we were unable to go out in the villages with our outreach veterinary care programme. The relaxation of the restrictions was an opportunity for us to go out and help the animals while following the preventive measures of using face mask and regularly washing hands.

In the month of August, we visited 10 communities and educated 523 adults and children and treated 402 working animals (299 DONKEYS AND 103 CATTLES). The people were joyful to receive us with the education and veterinary program. According to the animal owners, the program continues to improve the welfare and health of their animals and as a result, the animals are able to effectively and efficiently work for them. They also said that the program has made them to value and respect the welfare and health of their animals. The people appreciated us including Animal Aid Abroad Inc for making them to understand how to love and care for their animals and providing free lifesaving care and treatments for their animals. Many of the animal owners have started providing proper shelters and food for their animals. The local authorities continue to appreciate us. According to the local leaders, the program is greatly contributing to poverty eradication and the empowerment of rural people who depend on their animals for survival."
