Feeding working and stray animals, malnourished due to Covid-19

Friendicoes in India have recently been focusing on feeding working animals.

Feeding of working animals continued in post lock down period as the public is still not leaving their homes; there is no work for horse drawn carts.
So with their savings the owners first arrange food rations and support for their family and are feeding the bare minimum to their animals.
It is an extremely stressful time for all animals.
Friendicoes has during the pandemic been feeding 130 equines caught in the city during lockdown with the help of the few horse owners that haven’t fled the city for their native villages.
Since fodder itself is scarce Friendicoes has had to travel distances to procure it for these equines. The owners along the route are suffering. Requests for fodder are coming in from Bharatpur, a city that depends on tourism which will not happen till the year end and Jewar where the horse and donkey owners are very low income to below poverty line.
Aside from working donkeys and horses, Friendicoes have also been feeding stray cattle.
The stray cattle are being fed at the vegetable and fruit market, Gazipur, Delhi. Because of the closure of the market entry gates, these cattle are unable to get their food, in the form of waste vegetables and fruits.
Daily green fodder is provided to 150 cattle at the market. After a month of regular feeding, their survival is assured.
