LAZAWO's work in Tanzania

Here is the October update from AAA partner group LAZAWO from the Butiama-Mara Region in Tanzania.

"In October we attended 517 donkeys in the Butiama district for various different welfare and health issues. Mostly, we have been encountering wounds caused by tethering and beating, pneumonia, mange, mite infestation, trypanasomiasis, and a few cases of rabid donkeys near the Serengeti national park.

110 donkeys were vaccinated against rabies and along with the mobile vet clinic we did, we educated 39 young children and also trained 83 donkey owners about how a certain practice can be detrimental to their animals’ health. This was done in three wards of Butiama district with a total of nine villages.

A Caruso well construction has been completed in October and it will help us to supply donkeys with water during the drought conditions.

The water will also be used to plant trees for environmental recovery, planting grasses and agribusiness for the community, and at the same time, people will be getting water for their home use.

LAZAWO would like to extend sincere thanks to Animal Aid Abroad for the sponsorship of the Caruso well, mobile veterinary clinics and outreach in Butiama villages."
