New patient at the Mannar Donkey Sanctuary
The Bridging Lanka Mannar Donkey Welfare and Management report brings us news of this speckled black and white donkey, who was a regular diner at the Nadukkuda army camp where any leftover food from the barrack’s canteen was dished out to this lucky creature. One day this donkey came for lunch sporting a gaping wound on its hind leg. A soldier who had grown fond of the donkey tried to administer some medicine and bandaged up the leg. The donkey soon wriggled out of the bandage and the wound started to bleed again. Realising that more expert help was needed, they contacted the team at the Donkey Clinic. Now after daily treatment this lucky donkey is well on the way to a full recovery.
