Camel in need of emergency surgery in Bassi

The Camel Rescue Centre in Bassi is a busy one. Recently over 500 animals including dogs, cattle, goats, horses, donkeys and monkeys were treated in one month, for all kinds of medical ailments.

One particular camel needed emergency treatment after a road traffic incident.

The owner was on his way to work with his camel and cart when a truck passed by. A sharp hook on the truck hit the face of the camel and the facial muscle was torn and bleeding heavily.

The owner immediately called the CRC, and Dr Jitendar attended at once. Painkillers and antibiotics were given, and the wound was surgically closed under sedation.

The surgery went well and the camel is expected to make a full recovery.
