Work continues in Uganda

The Animal welfare and Protection Organisation (AWPO) in Uganda live by their moto: "Healthy animals for better community livelihoods".

During September they operated within the areas of Sironko and Amudat, treating 198 donkeys and educating 37 owners on humane harnessing, load weights, feed, watering and limiting work time to avoid exhaustion. Reliance on donkeys for income is very high in this area, so the local community members were very appreciative of the free service provided by AWPO. Over the time that they have been operating, AWPO have seen a reduction in the number of donkeys suffering wounds as a result of abuse from their owners.

AWPO are setting their next goal on improving the harnessing for as many donkeys as possible.
