Poor harnessing a continuing issue in Somaliland
The Social & Animal Welfare Service (SAWS) in Hargiesa, Somaliland, has been continuing their mobile vet clinic throughout the months of August and September.
The demand in the area for veterinary services is very high, with many wounds seen from poor harnessing.
SAWS vets endeavour to educate the animal owners, not just on correct harnessing techniques, but on giving their animals time to rest and recover from injuries such as these. It is a difficult situation, as these owners rely on the work that their animals do as their only source of income to feed their families.
A total of 255 donkeys were treated during this time.
Keep up the good work SAWS!
