Family of 18 happy equines and their one protective friend
This month our sanctuary looked beautiful as always with our 18 happy and healthy equines. August-September always comes with a wonderful weather perfect for our equines. We are very pleased to write that almost all of our equines are healthy and fulfilled in our sanctuary. However, as mentioned in previous report, Maneka continue to have problem due to her age but her feeding has improved after her tooth rasp. Our donkey sanctuary has also welcomed new friend Lucky to its sanctuary. Lucky is a young female local dog who lives in our sanctuary and protects our equines against other local stray dogs while grazing and during the night. She is extremely friendly and loves roaming around the village when she is off duty.
This month 37 students and 9 staff members from Lavender Pre-school visited the sanctuary and learned about our rescued equines. Students fed Buddy and other equines at the sanctuary which they totally enjoyed. Dr.Yadav demonstrated how their grooming is done and how the tools are used to trim their hoofs. Buddy thoroughly enjoyed the manicure. After the brief session on the animal behavior and health the students were taken to the felid where our equines graze in the afternoon. We also showed them what types of feeds they are given. Dr.Atish Yadav believes that this kind of session will make children think about these animals and make them curious to learn more on them. We are grateful to Lavender Preschool for their wonderful consideration.
