First stray dog rescue for AAECreated Wednesday, 12 August 2009 AAE rescued a stray dog that we named Brooke as she was found near the Brooke Hospital in Alexandria. She had been badly beaten by a man causing her to have a disconnected shoulder. The AAE vet team rescued her immediately and brought her to the clinic where she was operated on and cared for by our dedicated staff. The pictures show her in the early days of her treatment and a second one of a very happy and now very well dog. Brooke was due to go live in Hamburg, Germany but she unfortunately did not meet the quarantine requirements to leave Egypt due to her on-going issues with her leg. This was a real blow for Brooke and us but the good news is she now lives happily at a shelter in Cairo run by a wonderful organisation called ESMA [ http://esmaegypt.org]. She will be sadly missed by all the AAE team as she became a very loving and happy dog despite the terrible way she had been treated prior to coming to us. Animals continue to amaze and humble us by their ability to recover from terrible abuse, forgive and love again. See the video of Brooke before surgery.
